Let us Print for You

We have a long history of serving design professionals throughout the UK and beyond. Most work we produce is printed from photopolymer plates, allowing our clients complete freedom with their projects.

Requesting an Estimate
Best way to get the process underway is to request an estimate: we'd like to know quantity, finished size, number of inks/foil/blind emboss used, paper stock, other finishing, and an idea of your intended schedule. If you have a pdf (even rough) available, this will help us to more accurately price your job.

Designing for Letterpress
Whilst we would not presume to impose direction on your work, we're happy to give our opinion on the suitability of the letterpress print process for any project.

Letterpress excels at printing solid colour - screens don't work so well, so we'd recommend using a second lighter colour of ink rather than a screen. Continuous tone photographs can be printed, but will result in a kind of retro newspaper look.

Large solid areas tend to appear mottled or salty, due to the types of papers used for letterpress. Where reversed text is placed on a large solid area, the text can sometimes fill in a little, so we recommend 12pt or larger - please contact us for our advice on how your design will work

Letterpress excels at printing typography and lineart. The beauty of letterpress is in crisp, sharp printing which gives a rich texture of light and shadow across the surface of the paper. For best results, text should ideally be at least 6pt, but we have on occasion successfully printed as small as 4pt. Lines should be 0.25pt or thicker please.

If you are looking to print light onto dark, we recommend hot foil which is available in many colours in both a matt and gloss finish - specify a pantone colour and we'll let you see a sample in the closest colour we have.

Impression
We can print on many substrates, from 60gsm bible paper to 1850gsm coaster board. We can print from a kiss impression to a heavy impression. We print with a heavy impression unless otherwise specified.

Files
Our favourite way to receive artwork is as press ready pdfs, ideally with all fonts outlined. All colours should be pantone spot colours.
